Mystery Scooterist Identified

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Tim. He has the silver helmet and the Vino 125 like mine. He stopped at the Blockbuster on Wednesday. Tim has seriously modded out his scoot.
He has the Japanese Taillight and blinkers, the chrome front blinkers, some flashy Canadian accents, all to go along with some high tech mechanical modifications. Hopefully he will send me some pics so I can post them.

It has inspired me to finish up on some of my own mods. I can't wait to put the shark teeth on the front fender, which looks great by the way, Mike. Next on the list is the whitewall tires.

I guess Wednesday was Scooter day in Scranton/Dunmore. On my way to work I rode along with a young woman on a BEAUTIFUL Black Aprilla. I think if I get another scoot, that may be it. It was very nice. I also got to see our own blue beauty Heather tooling around Dunmore.

After talking to Tim, I had no sooner said to a kid I work with Justin, "Scooters are taking over", than Heather rode by. It's getting so you can't throw a stone with out hitting a scooter.

LED Lights

I just added some new LED lights to my scoot.

I have a remote control for them that I can use to turn them on from across the parking lot.

Sorry they are a bit blurry.I wanted to make the files small for the post.

Slightly Terrifying?

I came across this site the other day when looking for a new helmet. I have to say, I think I would be freaked out by some of the things on there if I saw them barreling towards me on two wheels.

The photos that your see here are not directly from the site itself, I couldn't link to the photos in their gallery directly, but I am pretty sure that they are the source of all the products you see here.

The site itself is irritating to navigate, although I highly suggest you do so, if only for the basketball and baseball heads and the fully garbed Spidermen, both traditional and venom-style. Sheesh!

I Want It Painted White

For anyone who has considered putting white wall tires on their scoot, but found it hard to justify buying new tires when you've got a perfectly fine pair already, there's a solution. There's a special type of white rubberized tire paint made specifically for cheap do-it-yourselfers. I found mine on ebay, and there's also
some guy in iceland that makes a reputable formula.

It involves some tire washing, sanding, and careful taping:



The results are pretty satisfying though:



Now I just have to see how well it holds up. I'll report back in a few hundred miles.

When Can We All Get Together?????

I'm not sure what day of the week is good for everyone. Sunday is the best day of the week for me to go for a ride. If everyone wants to get together on a Saturday, I just need some advance notice. Please let me know if and or when everyone can go for a scoot!

New Scooter Guild Member!

If ever we needed proof that our love of scooters is infectious, it has now transmitted across state lines. Specifically, to Rhode Island, where our dear friend, former Scrantonite and girl with a moped, Sarah, has gotten her hands on a beautiful 1980 Vespa 50 Special 50 (49.77)cc -kick start (not electric start).

Here's some info on the new scoot from Sarah herself:
"I plan to replace the battery, lubricate the cables, clean the carb. I don't know if I will fix it up all special. I might get some of that strawberry oil for the gas.
It's dented all ready! Oh well. The front right panel got dented in because it fell over off the kick stand. Guess it was bound to happen some time."
